Every engineer we put forward has cleared a structured screen.
- Resume + portfolio review: Real shipped systems and verifiable employment history.
- English assessment: Working-level fluency, written and spoken (minimum CEFR B2).
- Technical screen: 60–90 minute live coding plus a system-design discussion.
- Reference checks: At least one technical and one managerial reference.
- Relocation readiness: Visa eligibility, family situation and notice period mapped up front.
- Compensation calibration: Salary expectations checked against Pay Limit and Positive List thresholds.

Engagement models
- Direct hire: Engineer becomes your employee under your Danish entity. We charge a recruitment fee plus relocation services.
- Employer of Record: Engineer is employed by Nordic Relocators on your behalf. Ideal if you have no Danish entity yet.
- Project team: Fixed-scope team (3–10 engineers) delivered against milestones. We manage performance and substitution.
- Try-and-hire: Start as a Nordic Relocators contractor for 3–6 months, then convert to your payroll if it works out.
FAQs: Software engineering hires
How long does it take to hire and relocate an engineer?
For EU/EEA candidates: 4–8 weeks from brief to first day. For non-EU candidates: 8–14 weeks, dominated by SIRI work-permit processing.
Do candidates speak Danish?
Most senior engineers do not. Danish workplaces are overwhelmingly English-speaking in tech, and we screen for English fluency. Danish lessons can be added to the relocation package if useful.
Which work-permit scheme applies?
Most senior engineers qualify under Pay Limit (DKK 514,000+ in 2025). Mid-level engineers in shortage occupations may qualify under the Positive List for Higher Education. Certified employers can use Fast-Track.
Can engineers bring family?
Yes. Family reunification permits for spouses and children are filed alongside the main application, with no extra cost from the SIRI side.
What does the recruitment fee cover?
Sourcing, vetting, candidate management, offer negotiation and replacement guarantee. Work-permit, payroll and relocation are quoted separately.
Is there a replacement guarantee?
Yes. If a placed engineer leaves within the first 3 months for reasons not attributable to the role, we replace them at no additional recruitment fee.
Can we hire one engineer or do we need a team?
Either. Many clients start with a single senior hire to test the model, then expand to a team once the first engineer is settled.
