FAQs: IT & Tech talent

Which tech roles qualify under the Positive List for Higher Education?

IT consultants, software developers, system analysts, database specialists, network specialists and several engineering disciplines often appear on the Positive List. The list is updated every six months, so we check eligibility at the moment of filing.

Do candidates need a Danish degree?

No. A recognised foreign higher-education qualification is accepted, subject to evaluation by the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science. We coordinate the credential evaluation as part of the visa filing.

Can we hire a contractor instead of an employee?

Genuine contractor relationships are possible but carry misclassification risk in Denmark, especially for full-time embedded roles. We typically recommend EOR over contractor for clean compliance.

How is salary benchmarked?

We benchmark against the Danish market by role, seniority and city, and cross-check against Pay Limit (DKK 514,000 in 2025) and any Positive List salary requirements.

What if a candidate fails the credential evaluation?

We catch this at screening. Where the foreign qualification is borderline, we file a credential evaluation in advance so there are no surprises during the SIRI application.

Can family relocate with the hire?

Yes. Spouse and children visas are filed at the same time as the main work permit. Spouses generally have the right to work in Denmark on a dependent permit.

How long does the full process take?

EU/EEA: 4–8 weeks from offer to first day. Non-EU: 8–14 weeks depending on SIRI processing for the chosen scheme.
